Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 clove garlic halved
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 loaf bread cubed, for dipping

Instructions 

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the halved garlic clove; discard garlic.
  2. Add wine and lemon juice to the pot and heat until steaming, but not boiling.
  3. In a bowl, toss the cheeses with cornstarch.
  4. Gradually add cheese to the pot, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  5. Add nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve with cubed bread for dipping.
