Ingredients 

Pretzel Dough

  • 1 packet Active Dry Yeast about 2 ¼ teaspoons
  • 1 ½ cups Warm Water 110°F
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ cup Baking Soda
  • 2 cups Water for boiling
  • Coarse Sea Salt for sprinkling

Instructions 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. In a large pot, bring 2 cups of water and the baking soda to a boil.
  7. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and shape into a pretzel.
  8. Carefully dip each pretzel into the boiling water for about 30 seconds. Remove and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Sprinkle each pretzel with coarse sea salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
