Kolache Dough
- 2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
- ¼ cup warm water
- 1 cup milk warmed
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup butter melted
- 2 large eggs beaten
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
1. Dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine milk, sugar, melted butter, beaten eggs, and salt. Add the yeast mixture.
3. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
6. Flatten each piece of dough and wrap it around a sausage link. Place on a greased baking sheet.
7. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
