Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Add chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add minced garlic, cumin, and chili powder. Cook for another 2 minutes.
Add black beans, vegetable broth, diced tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
Use a blender to puree the soup until smooth. You can also use an immersion blender directly in the pot.
Stir in lime juice before serving.
