Puerto Rican Tostones Recipe
Crunchy, twice-fried plantains that are a staple in Puerto Rican cuisine.

Main Ingredients
- 3 green plantains
- 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
- 1 teaspoon salt to taste
- 1 cup water for soaking
- 2 cloves garlic optional, for soaking water
Peel the plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.
Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
Fry the plantain slices for about 3 minutes on each side until they are golden.
Remove the plantains and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Flatten each plantain slice using the bottom of a glass or a tostonera.
Soak the flattened plantains in a mixture of water, salt, and garlic for a few seconds.
Fry the plantains again for about 2 minutes on each side until they are crispy.
Remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt to taste.
