Ingredients

  • 2 cups dried pinto beans
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions 

  1. Rinse and sort the beans.
  2. In a large pot, combine beans and water. Bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Add onion, garlic, salt, pepper, cumin, and bay leaf. Simmer for another 30 minutes or until beans are tender.
