Ingredients 

Scone Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter cut into small pieces
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, egg, vanilla extract, and orange zest.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape it into a 1-inch thick circle. Cut into 8 wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
