Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup dry lentils rinsed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 bell pepper diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 burger buns toasted

Instructions 

  1. 1. Cook lentils according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. 3. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. 4. Stir in cooked lentils, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, chili powder, smoked paprika, and water. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
  5. 5. Serve lentil mixture on toasted burger buns.
