Ingredients

Pita Bread Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a baking sheet in the oven to heat up.
  6. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then roll out into a circle about ¼ inch thick.
  7. Place the rolled-out dough onto the hot baking sheet and bake for 3-5 minutes until puffed and lightly browned.
  8. Remove from the oven and cover with a kitchen towel to keep them soft. Repeat with remaining dough.
