Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture and vegetable oil into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball, then poke a hole in the center to form a bagel shape.
  8. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Boil each bagel for 1 minute on each side, then place on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake the bagels in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
