Main Ingredients
- 1.5 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1 teaspoon Ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 0.5 teaspoon Ground cloves
- 0.5 teaspoon Salt
- 0.5 cup Unsalted butter, softened
- 0.5 cup Brown sugar
- 1 large Egg
- 0.5 cup Molasses
- 1 cup Hot water
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
In another bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then mix in the molasses.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the hot water. Mix until just combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
