Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¾ cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions 

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add egg and molasses, mix well.
  3. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mix until combined.
  4. Chill dough for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out dough on a floured surface, cut into shapes.
  6. Place cookies on a baking sheet, bake for 8-10 minutes.
  7. Let cool on wire racks.
