Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoon Active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 ½ cups Warm water 110°F

Instructions 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add the warm water and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal parts. Shape each part into a loaf and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Let the loaves rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
