Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoon unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1 cup buttermilk cold

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the cold buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick.
  6. Fold the dough over itself a few times to create layers, then pat it out again to 1-inch thickness.
  7. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm with butter or jam.
