  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 6 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions 

  1. Rinse and sort the beans.
  2. In a large pot, sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
  3. Add the beans, cumin, bay leaf, and water.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes or until beans are tender.
  5. Season with salt to taste.
