Instructions
In a large saucepan, combine apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender, about 10 minutes.
Add butter and stir until melted.
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Add to the apple mixture and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and let cool before using as a pie filling or storing.
