Ingredients 

Scone Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter cold and cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup apple peeled, cored, and chopped
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the chopped apple.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Add to the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently. Pat into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
